Just a Music Rant.

I think orchestras should appreciate their lower sections more. I mean, sure violins and violas normally have the melody, but a musical composition isn’t just a melody. It can be, but that’s like only being able to hear out of one ear. Not as good. And of course, I played violin for 3 years. The higher instruments are great. Beautiful. But sometimes, I get annoyed because people don’t think much of the lower sections. Personally, I think the basses (no, I don’t play base) have the most important job of an orchestra. I often think of them as the heartbeat of an orchestra. Everytime the basses don’t play with us, the song is empty. It has no ground. No string to hold it together and the orchestra falls apart. Then there’s the cello section. And this is not me boasting about how great I think my instrument is, this is just my opinion (and many other peoples for that matter). Whenever the cellos don’t play, the song also sounds empty. Like the song has no heart, or feeling. It isn’t grounded.

This was just my little rant. Sometimes I feel like bases and cellos don’t get the credit the deserve. That’s just me though.
